Our Instructor:

Vanessa Pattison has lived and taught yoga in San Juan del Sur for the past three years. She started taking classes out of a private home in town after seeing a sign on the fence. The woman who led the classes had trained in Mysore, India with Pattabi Jois. The style was Ashtanga Yoga, which is an exact set of poses in a certain order. Vanessa went to the 2 hour class everyday and loved it. After a few months the teacher left town, so Vanessa rented the same house and kept the yoga sign up and the classes going. With no "official" training or certification Vanessa was nervous but with a little encouragement from her local students she kept teaching and studying whatever she could get her hands on to help improve her class. Over time the class has changed and become more of a flow than an exact sequence. She teaches class in town several days a week, teaches private classes for numerous places including El Camino del Sol, has led classes at private resorts, and has held workshops with other renowned yoga teachers. During her three years in San Juan del Sur numerous teachers passing through town have blessed her by guest teaching classes and have given her many hours of training and information.

She has had workshops with Katie Silcox and Andrew Thomas. Oliver Reinsch  from Yoga Works. And most recently Vanessa became certified by Vendantin at School of Yoga.

When Vanessa set off from the States she mentioned to her husband that she didn't like her current profession, he then asked her what would she like to do. She answered teach yoga. Looks like things have a way of working themselves out when you set an intention.
Vanessa welcomes you to her home town as she will lead in Saturday Morning Yoga at El Camino del Sol. Vanessa also teached at the community center in town on tuesday and thursday at 7:30am.
